Danish dessert is known as one of the most delicious cuisines in the world, especially for their cookies and pastries. Retrieved from Denmark.dk said that a total of 38 Michelin stars in 2021. Danes really love sweets, particularly cake. Below is the list of tasty Danish desserts that we should try! 

Famous Danish Dessert 

Most of these desserts are not just delicious and feel sweet, but they do have a nice plating and decoration. Denmark is also well known for its beauty of architecture, that’s why for them food is also like kindness, passion, and inspiration. Is not this country lovely right! 

1. Æbleskiver

Let’s start with this famous Danish dessert, most people in the world call it a puffy Danish pancake ball, and traditional food that mostly exists during the Christmas celebration. Æbleskiver means “apple slices” because Danes tend to put a slice of apple inside while they're making it. The trend nowadays is more likely to put chocolate or any other flavors inside.

2. Risalamande

This Danish dessert often shows up in the Christmas celebration. Risalamande is a word that comes from French. It has the meaning of rice and almond pudding. In addition to containing these 2 ingredients, this type of dessert is also usually made from a mixture of chopped almonds, and vanilla whipped cream complete with a smooth cherry sauce. This makes the food more tasty and delicious! 

3. Vaniljekranse

Vaniljekranse is one of the Danish desserts and is usually served during the Christmas celebration period. Vaniljekranse has a meaning which is called vanilla wreaths and also known as Danish butter cookies. The shape is actually a small round cookie, baked with a crisp at top and usually smells really nice. 

4. Flødeboller

This food is well known as a puffy snack that is covered with chocolate marshmallows with Marzipan. Usually, it is a foundation for making candy and sweets. Marzipan rings are usually baked for 5-8 minutes at 180 celsius. These foods are easy to make at home as only 5 ingredients are needed to bake. 

5. Rabarbergrød

Another troop coming from this Danish dessert, called it tipsy strawberry as they use strawberry to mix with a Rhubarb pudding. It was one of my favorite flavors and sweetness. This food is just super quick and easy to make. In the restaurant, it is often called Rhubarb compote. You would not need too much time to prepare this tasty dessert.

6. Lagkage

Lagkage is defined as a Danish layer cake, served for special events like birthdays, and anniversaries until other cherries celebrations. This cake is actually made with many variations, it could be as simple as a fancy cake. Actually, in the bakery shop, they often sell a 3-layer cake, so I could just decorate it at the end. Between the layers are filled with strawberry or blueberry sauces or even cocoa sometimes. These cakes could be categorized as light cakes to eat!  

7. Danish Waffles

Waffles are a really classic breakfast and also brunch to have while you’re not really want to eat a side course or even main course. It’s really light and would make you full at once. Actually, this is the puff Danish batter for aebleskivers. You could save the in the freezer and heat them wherever you want. It’s crunchy and you can add some ice cream to it.

8. Apple Cake

Danish macaroons are made up of light ingredients and almond cookies. Adding breadcrumbs makes this cake crunchier and sometimes there are adds of oats. The macarons are not made up of coconut. When ready with the cake, apple syrup is used to fill the layers of macarons. 

9. Kanelstang

This Danish dessert is often called a cinnamon twist, and the smell of this cake is really nice and lovely. This sweet dough has a circle shape like a ball and is often layered with vanilla glaze to make the cinnamon blend with the sweets more classic. 

10. Kransekage 

Kransekage is the name of the Danish Almond Cake. Usually, this dish is also served with sweet champagne to add to the richness of its taste. Take sour champagne and mix it with the almond cake, it would make this dessert really festive in your mouth. It also tastes nice if you drink it with a hot coffee or even a hot chocolate during the rainy season!
