How to Prepare a Fun and Stress-Free Family Road Trip

Jan 22nd 2020

With a little preparation and planning, a journey could end up being better than the destination itself. Ready to take the wheel? Here are suggestions that will keep parents sane and kids content during a family road trip!

Plan Some Pit Stops

Before leaving home, be sure to do a web search for fun things to do in towns along the route and map out the journey. Get a realistic picture of how long the family road trip will take by using a mapping website or mobile app. Plan to stop at least twice during the trip, pick a park or scenic rest area to allow the kids some play time and allow driving parents to stretch their legs. Bring along a frisbee or a ball for entertainment in case a park with playground equipment can't be found.

Use Snacks as Distraction

Keep kids’ hands and mouths busy when traveling with a bunch of snacks. Pack healthy goodies in containers and give them out to the kids along the way. Bring snacks that can be eaten easily without heating or refrigeration, like Danisa Butter Cookies. They’re super easy to take anywhere, anytime. Just put a few in a plastic bag or food container, they're good to go. With the richness of the butter and the perfectly balanced sweetness, Danisa is a perfect choice to bring on a family road trip.

Bring First Aid Kit

As careful as we are, we can’t predict when accidents happen and someone will get hurt. If one of the kids gets a nasty sting halfway through the family road trip, save a lot of time and hassle by having a suitable and complete first aid kit on-board. Make sure to include items like anti-sting creams, bandages, antiseptic wipes, or even painkillers and antihistamines.

Embrace the Unexpected

In the end, a family road trip is all about creating lasting memories. It doesn't always go as planned, expect that and be okay with it. It’s great to have a plan, but knowing that it will be okay if it doesn’t and when it doesn’t, don’t allow that to ruin the whole trip.

Either way, planning is key, and preparing the whole family members for things that might not even happen will help to ensure the family road trip is as stress-free as possible.
